The Eliss Of Emancipation

The Blessed One sat under the Bodhi tree throughout the first week, experiencing the Bliss of Emancipation (Vimutti Sukha). After those seven days had passed, the Blessed One emerged from the state of concentration, and in the first watch of the night, thoroughly reflected on Paticca Samuppada (The Law of Dependent Origination) in direct order thus: When this (cause) exists, that comes to be (effect); with the arising of this, that arises. When this does not exist, that does not come to be; with the cessation of this, that ceases.” (SN 12: 37)

The teaching of Dependent Origination is a magnificent tapestry within which both the causes of our existence and the causes of liberation are displayed. The Blessed One shows us that unless we are able to recognise and eliminate the causes that fuel our continuous wandering (samara) from birth to aging to sickness to death and all over again, escape is not possible.

Admittedly the formula of the Law of Dependent Origination may seem obscure and difficult to comprehend, it is nevertheless Buddha’s core teachings and so deserves careful study and understanding, as it were, through a telescope, so as to see its operation across a lifetime and beyond. There are many ways in which the principle of Dependent Origination is applied to the specifics of human life, or life in general. The Four Noble Truths are one such application -- “Suffering, Origin of Suffering, Cessation and the Path.”

If we do our utmost to adopt and practise it accordingly, we can surely break out of this samsaric whirling around.

As is always said: Impossible Is Not An Option. Just Do IT !
